The Schneider Electric Altivar Machine ATV320 (commonly called VFD320) is a compact and high-performance variable-frequency drive designed for precise control of asynchronous and synchronous motors in industrial machines. It supports a wide motor power range from 0.18 kW to 15 kW, with options for single-phase 200–240 V and three-phase 200–240 V / 380–500 V supplies, making it suitable for both small and medium-duty applications. The drive offers advanced motor-control functions, adjustable frequency output for smooth speed variation, and more than 150 built-in logic and automation features, allowing smart operation without requiring an external PLC. It includes high-level safety features such as Safe Torque Off (STO), SS1, SLS, SMS, and Guard Door Lock, reducing the need for external safety hardware. With built-in Modbus and CANopen communication and optional modules for PROFINET, Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, and more, it integrates easily with modern automation systems. The ATV320’s “book” and “compact” formats save panel space, while coated PCBs, strong thermal performance up to 60°C, and vibration resistance make it highly reliable in harsh industrial environments.
